2nd Training and Lecture of 2018 (November 22nd, 18:15)

 The training and lecture was held in the Taito Hall 8F conference room with over 25 participants.
 The lecturer, Mr. Masaharu Yamazaki (President and CEO of Kameya KK and crisis management consultant),
gave a lecture titled “Considering the issue of foreign employment.”

 The main themes covered included:
1. Japan’s outlook for accepting foreign unskilled workers;
2. Is accepting unskilled workers wise?;
3. Projected population decline in Japan through 2060 and the appropriateness of accepting foreign workers as a countermeasure;
4. The percentage of foreign workers in the working population by country and Japan’s shortage of highly skilled workers;
5. Comparison of per capita labor productivity among developed countries and a lack of management’s recognition that productivity improvement lies in wage increases;
6. Declining disposable income and stagnant wages amid labor shortages;
7. Inadequate investment in education and research and development;
8. Neglected mental health care for workers, the suicide problem, and the lack of hope for the future among young people
; 9. Comparison of foreign worker acceptance systems by country and Japan’s current crisis. Through a wide range of international comparisons, Professor Ikeda offered valuable insights into
Japan’s future labor and social issues from both macro and micro perspectives . There was also lively discussion following the lecture.
